A Changed Heart
By Judit Magdaleno
“Lord, here we go. I know that there is someone you will send to me today.” I prayed as the van slowly vanished away. I started jogging to the first house which was a rejection. I kept walking as I praised God for quick rejections.
I then approached the next door. The situation was perfectly prepared for me since the woman seemed to be waiting for me. She had a sweet, joyful face worn out by many years of life. I shared with her what we were doing in the community. I showed her Habits that Heal and told her that it shows the habits of America’s longest living people. Then I asked, “How old do you want to live to?” She told me that she wanted to live as long as the Lord desires. She continued to share of how the Lord had permitted her to see her husband in a beautiful new land. She shared that it was not a vison but that it was reality. Her husband had suffered from a painful cancer and she had asked God to take her husband away if it was His will. The next day, her husband had passed away. She shared that she knew that the Lord had answered her prayer and had full confidence that He was always looking out for her.
I was so happy to see how much she loved Jesus and had full trust in Him, but I knew she was missing something. She was missing the truth that I had. I proceeded to share the Promise of Peace with her and that just like she can have confidence in God, there was a Man who trusted God in the most despairing circumstances and was able to fulfill a mission to save us. She then responded by saying, “Honey, you’re preaching to the choir. I have that.” I knew that she sincerely loved the Lord, but that the devil had her under some snares. I kept praying earnestly for the Lord to help me. I showed her the books again and then she asked me how much they were. In the end, she got the books I had showed her. She went from a “No” to a “How much?”. The Holy Spirit’s sweet presence is what performs such miracles in hearts. It is amazing to see God changing hearts right in front of your eyes!
